Who are we?

An Overview

We provide structured, supportive tuition for students from primary level through to GCSE and beyond, with specialist teaching in 11+ preparation, Mathematics and Science.

Our aim is not simply to help students answer the questions in front of them. We want them to understand the concepts behind those questions, develop confidence in their own ability and build skills they can continue to use throughout their education.

With experienced tutors, carefully structured lessons, regular practice and ongoing support, AceTutorPlus provides students with the guidance they need to work towards their full potential.

Why AceTutorPlus?

What sets our teaching apart

💡

Understand, not memorise

We teach the reasoning behind methods and concepts so that students can apply what they have learnt to unfamiliar questions, rather than relying solely on memorised techniques.

📚

Structured learning

Our lessons follow a carefully planned curriculum, building knowledge progressively and revisiting important skills throughout the year.

✎

Practice with purpose

Learning continues beyond the lesson. Regular homework, exam-style questions and targeted practice help students consolidate their understanding and identify areas that need further work.

🤝

Working together

The best progress is achieved when the tutor, student and parent work together. We keep parents informed and encourage students to take increasing responsibility for their own learning.

Our story

How AceTutorPlus began

AceTutorPlus was founded by Priya Putta with a simple aim: to give students the clear explanations, individual attention and structured practice they need to become confident learners.

Priya began her tutoring journey after graduating in Biochemistry and working with primary school students. While running a Maths intervention programme, she saw how significantly students could progress when difficult concepts were broken down carefully and taught in a way that made sense to them.

Her experience preparing her own children for the Kent Test further developed the approach that would become the foundation of AceTutorPlus.

Since then, AceTutorPlus has grown from individual tuition into a wider learning programme supporting students across 11+, KS3, GCSE and other academic stages through face-to-face tuition, online teaching, mock examinations, video courses and learning resources.

Although AceTutorPlus has grown, the principle behind the teaching remains the same: understand the student, build the foundations, challenge them appropriately, and help them become confident enough to succeed independently.

Priya Putta

Founder & Lead Tutor

✓ Enhanced DBS Checked

Priya is the founder of AceTutorPlus and has extensive experience teaching students across primary, 11+, KS3 and GCSE Mathematics.

A Biochemistry graduate, Priya began her teaching journey working with primary school students, where she established a Maths club designed to help children progress beyond their projected levels.

Her teaching places particular emphasis on understanding. Rather than encouraging students to memorise methods without knowing why they work, Priya breaks difficult topics into manageable steps and develops the underlying mathematical concepts first. This is combined with regular homework, challenging questions, exam practice and close monitoring of each student’s progress.

Priya also believes strongly in communication between the tutor, student and parent. Parents are kept informed about progress and areas requiring additional attention so that everyone can work towards the same goal.

Over the years, her students have achieved excellent results in both the Kent Test and GCSE Mathematics, with many families returning to AceTutorPlus as their children progress through different stages of their education.

Priya teaches:

  • ✓11+ Preparation & Kent Test
  • ✓Year 7 to Year 10 Maths
  • ✓GCSE Maths
  • ✓11+ Mock Exams

Nidhu

Tutor

✓ Enhanced DBS Checked

Nidhu is a medical student at St George’s, University of London and teaches Biology and Chemistry at AceTutorPlus.

His medical training gives him a strong scientific background and allows him to connect the concepts students learn in Biology and Chemistry with their practical applications.

Nidhu’s teaching focuses on understanding the science first and then developing the skills needed to apply that knowledge effectively to examination questions. He aims to make difficult topics clear and manageable, helping students recognise exactly what an examination question is asking and how to structure their knowledge into a precise, high-quality answer.

Alongside subject knowledge, Nidhu places particular emphasis on exam technique, application questions and identifying the small improvements that can make the difference between GCSE grades.

Regular communication with parents also forms an important part of his teaching, helping students, parents and tutor remain clear about progress and areas requiring further attention.

Nidhu teaches:

  • ✓GCSE Biology (Year 9, 10 & 11)
  • ✓GCSE Chemistry (Year 9, 10 & 11)
  • ✓Medical School Applications

Yadu

Tutor

✓ Enhanced DBS Checked

Yadu is a medical student at University College London (UCL) and has six years of teaching experience, working with students both individually and in groups across a wide range of ages and abilities.

He achieved an average grade of 9 across his GCSEs and went on to achieve four A*s at A Level in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physical Education.

Yadu’s teaching is concept-driven. His priority is to ensure that students understand why and how a topic works, rather than simply memorising a method. By developing a strong understanding of the underlying concepts, students are better equipped to apply their knowledge confidently to unfamiliar and challenging exam questions.

Alongside his academic and teaching experience, Yadu has competed in NASA competitions, delivered a TEDx Talk, and worked as a cancer researcher, providing a wide range of experiences to draw on in his teaching.

Yadu brings the same curiosity and analytical approach to his teaching, encouraging students to think carefully, ask questions and develop the confidence to solve problems independently.

Yadu teaches:

  • ✓FSMQ Additional Mathematics - OCR
  • ✓A Level Chemistry - Year 12, OCR Salters B
  • ✓A Level Chemistry - Year 13, OCR Salters B
  • ✓Medical School Applications
Our teaching approach

More than just a lesson

We believe that a student’s success requires a multidirectional approach to produce consistent progress. Our approach combines:

💬

Clear teaching

Students are taught concepts carefully and encouraged to ask questions until they genuinely understand them.

📝

Regular practice

Homework reinforces the work completed during lessons and helps students develop accuracy, speed and independence.

🔍

Learning from mistakes

Errors are an important part of learning. Students are encouraged to identify where they went wrong, understand the reason and correct their work rather than simply moving on.

📋

Exam preparation

As examinations approach, students work increasingly with exam-style questions, timed papers and techniques appropriate to their examination.

📈

Progress monitoring

We identify strengths and areas requiring further work so that teaching can be adjusted accordingly.

📧

Parent communication

Particularly with younger students, parents play an important role in supporting consistent learning, so we encourage communication between tutor, parent and student throughout the year.

Our results

Progress we are proud of

30+
Combined years of teaching experience

Results vary between students, and no tuition programme can guarantee a particular examination outcome. Our focus is on giving every student the teaching, practice and support needed to perform to the best of their ability.

What parents can expect

A genuine partnership

When your child joins AceTutorPlus, you can expect carefully structured teaching, regular homework, appropriate challenge, clear explanations, progress monitoring and communication throughout their course.

We expect students to play their part too. Regular attendance, completion of homework, correction of mistakes and consistent practice are all important.

It is this partnership between student, tutor and parent that creates the environment in which meaningful progress can take place.
